Zimbabwe is a deeply troubled nation. Over the past 20 years, its economy has collapsed and it is now one of the poorest nations in the world. Fear has an enormous grip on the citizens’ lives. Many Zimbabweans attend a local church. However, a strong religious spirit and a lack of good discipleship understanding holds many captive in their thinking and hindered in their personal walk with the Lord.
The people of Zimbabwe need the hope and assurance of Jesus Christ.
In 2014, the Lord opened the door for Jay and Sarah Gerhart to relocate to Zimbabwe and serve in ministry there on a full-time basis. Their passion is to disciple the nation of Zimbabwe through transformed lives. Their pursuit is to assist Zimbabwean nationals to grow as godly, kingdom-oriented leaders and impact their nation in a positive and healthy way.
The Gerharts are passionate about discipleship and mentoring Zimbabweans as they develop a meaningful and transformational relationship with Jesus Christ. For example, Jay and Sarah disciple university students and grow godly women in leadership positions. They are committed to fostering discipleship making movements, mentoring and encouraging local leaders and facilitating numerous Christ-centred workshops.
Their desire is to assist Zimbawean nationals to understand and apply the truth of God’s word to their lives. They are eager to see Zimbabweans impacted by their faith in order to to share their love and commitment to Christ and offer His abiding hope to their nation. It is their prayer that the local church will be the primary vehicle in helping to rebuild Zimbabwe upon a strong, Biblical foundation.
