• To share the love, joy and strength found in a relationship with Jesus Christ to encourage teachers in their day to day lives
  • To train principals and teachers in teaching strategies and concepts that will enhance and grow their preschool and primary school programs
  • To provide support that equips principals and teachers in applying sound teaching practices in their schools.

OC Africa strives to assist principals and teachers develop a high quality school program through an interactive, hands-on approach to learning.

CHRIST-CENTRED APPROACH – We are committed to helping teachers share the Good News of Jesus Christ with children. This is accomplished by creating meaningful activities which invite children to develop a relationship with Jesus Christ. In addition, we begin each workshop with devotions and prayer to address the felt needs of living and working in an informal settlement or rural area.

TEACHER TRAINING – Teachers attend training workshops to help them improve their instructional and management skills and grow their understanding of the educational and developmental needs of the children they serve. Workshops are fun, interactive, and seek to increase the knowledge and understanding of early childhood development and literacy skills.

RESOURCES - OC Africa creates units based on teacher-need and interest such as shapes, colours, numbers, feelings, holidays, weather, multi-sensory awareness and more. These units are designed with rural and informal settlement communities in mind.

SCHOOL VISITS – OC Africa visits preschools, ECDs, and primary schools to understand the workings of each individual school. We provide coaching, mentoring and pastoral care to teachers in primarily the Finetown and Weiler's Farm areas, south of Soweto.
